Seven Clans Casinos - History in Details
History of the tribe
The Red Lake Band is a part of North Americans Algonquian family. Via different agreements and treaties from 1863 they left the land. However, they never relinquish the reservation that surrounds Lower Red Lake & a part of Upper Red Lake. The tribal leaders at that time skillfully withstood allotment legislation & the land for the Tribe remained to be intact. Nowadays the Independence Day of the tribe is celebrated in July 6. In this day all members honor the chiefs` memory, their courage and fortitude. Now this is the only Chippewa Band that is not referred to Minnesota Chippewa Tribe (governmental organization which was formed in 1934 according to the Indian Reorganization Act).
Today`s situation
The reservation is situated in northern part of Minnesota, not far from Bemidji. It includes 4 districts which are: Little Rock, Ponemah, Redby and Red Lake.
